It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Many of you saw my Christmas decor at our Season for Caring party, but here are some pics I took with my Iphone. Maybe my photographer hubby will find time to shoot some better pics- hint hint, nudge nudge. I was really inspired this year by natural materials and handmade goodness-hince the paper and pipe cleaner ornaments hand made by yours truly! I am such a crafting dork!
Christmas tree O Christmas tree!
 Handmade ornaments...
Pinecones spray painted with silver and silver glitter
Light fixture decor over Dining table- remember the Anthropologie inspiration?
 Entry Hall table

 Christmas greenery and flowers

Christmas wreath on front door with Jute ribbons
Back porch decor- White paper lanterns tied with Jute string

Fun stuff! What are your Christmas colors this year?

Saw it and had to post it!

This bathroom is awesome. In my opinion. I found it on Canadian House and Home and had to post. They say the tile backsplash is cork penny tiles... Interesting. Love pretty much everything down to the baskets- how cute are those? Frosted glass panel hiding the toilet- not so much... it's short enough to just look silly.

Natural, Neutral Christmas

Whoa! I need to get with the program! I'm sorry that my last post is Thanksgiving material... So these have been my inspirations for this year's Christmas decor at Casa de Ales. I'm going Neutral and Natural...

And we can't forget this inspiration from Anthropologie...

So I've tried my hand (literally) at Christmas ornaments and decorations, so you'll have to let me know what you think. We are hosting our second annual Christmas party for Season for Caring on Saturday, so I will be sure to post pics!

My Thanksgiving Table!!

I know it's almost Christmas people, but I'm excited to post pictures of my very FIRST Thanksgiving tabletop! A couple of posts ago, I gave you a sneak peek into a couple of things I was doing, but here is the finished product! I have to say I forgot to add the glasses for these pictures, but they were pretty too- I mean when else can you use your crystal?

The FAM!
And last but not least, my PRECIOUS Gracie who was too cute not to post! She's in my sister in law's dog's bed (which is a Boston Terrier). We didn't have the heart to tell Gracie she was too big for the bed ;)

Cool Cabinets

Since I'm also in the process of painting our Kitchen cabinets, I've really been noticing other Kitchen pictures with painted cabinets. If the situation allowed in our house, I would love to do this...

I love how the doors are a darker, different color from the face frames. What also works about this look is the light color countertops, completing the white frame around the dark cabinet doors. I'm also totally loving the Persian rug! I really need one of these. BAD. Note: the reason I don't think this will work in our house is because A) Our Kitchen is A LOT smaller than this B) Our cabinet doors are overlay instead of inset or European C) I don't have white walls D) I have upper cabinets. E) my countertops aren't white
I think the best thing for us to is be consistent with the color to make our Kitchen appear larger. Too many color and materials in our small kitchen would make too many visual distractions. Comprende?

More TG inspiration

I thought while I was on the subject of modern Thanksgiving Decor I could share some inspiring photos of tables with a more modern approach.

Can I just say I love me some white pumpkins! I'm hoping I can find some since everyone is already setting up for Christmas!

Thanksgiving Tabletop

Dorking out on my Thanksgiving tabletop this year. This will be the first Thanksgiving we will host for the whole family- The Ales's and The McLaughlin's! I'm really excited :) So, I wanted to do a more modern approach to Thanksgiving decor while still keeping the warm tones and rustic elements. Here is just a peek into a few things I'm doing... I will post pictures of the final on the big day!

 Napkins...

Centerpiece (with a few additions of course)...

Coveting...

THIS RUNNER!!!
For those of you who have been in my house you know the colors and style are right, but you also know that my stairs are painted stark white and they need this fabulous treatment (most likely unaffordable) or some dark brown painted treads (affordable). This is why this post is titled, "Coveting". Sniff. Sniff.
