Colors of Christmas: GOLD

You may be wondering why I'm not choosing the obvious companion to red (GREEN)? Well, it's because the green I think of at Christmas is more of a hunter green like a Christmas tree, and quite frankly, all the green interior pictures I can find are either a shade of lime or sage. So we are skipping to the metallics and memories of the song we all listened to growing up by Burl Ives from the Rudolph movie, "Silver and Gold".

Here's a few photos to get you in the mood for Christmas... I'm starting with RED because it's the first color I think of for the holidays.

Tablescapes

Remember one of my previous posts about the top items to invest in for your home? Well if not, one of them was classic white china. The reason is because it's so versatile and it never goes out of style! Here are some creative ways to add color and texture to an otherwise boring white plate... As you can see, you can change your glassware, table linens, chargers and accent plates and bowls, napkin rings, flatware and centerpieces.

Hallmark project

Recently, I had the privalege of helping my boss with the design of her family's vacation home near Winter Park, Co. My husband and I were blessed with the opportunity to go and help her with the styling and photography. Merrick did such a great job of capturing the warmth and beautiful setting of this house! We also got to ski and visit with friends while we were there, so it was an added bonus to the trip. You can check out more of my boss's work on her website.

Back exterior- I love the group of chairs and the moon in the background!

Great Room- I love how the orange really warms up the room and is complimentary to the blue mountains outdoors.

Kitchen

I like the beadboard backsplashes in the cabinets on either side of the refrigerator

I think this shot is so cute with the chicken soap!

Activity Room- the custom pool table was amazing- wood log base and horeshoes around the corner ball baskets.

Bunk Room- so cozy! The handles are made from recycled ski cables-thanks to Sue Steffen for that idea!

Gallery Vignette- I love the soft hide chair and the wood and iron textures together.

Winter Wonderland

My upcoming trip to Colorado has gotten me excited about snow and winter wonderlands. I'm hoping I get to take advantage of all the snow and get to hit the slopes! The soft white palette, sheer materials, and hints of silver in the white-on-white interiors below really make me feel the peace and light of snow in a winter wonderland.
